Our Commitment

This Ramadan, Nakheel maintains its support to last year’s cause by continuing to raise awareness of the plight of millions of people around the world who have no access to clean drinking water, especially children.

Nakheel aims to address this serious international issue by supporting the Dubai Cares “Thirst for Education” campaign, which highlights the vital link between water and children’s access to primary education in developing countries.

We at Nakheel are committed to our responsibility towards society and are dedicated to raising the quality of life for all. We aim at making a real difference in people’s lives, not only through our business activities, but through support of local and international charitable initiatives; and we work to inspire others to support them too.

Through innovation and social responsibility, we seek to create a legacy of value for generations to come.

2008 Thirsty?

Following the success of our award-wining initiative 'Ramadan Kareem Make-a-Wish' in 2007 which raised millions of Dirhams for local charity Bait al Khair, we launched our 2008 interactive Ramadan campaign to foster a spirit of generosity in Ramadan, and raise awareness of the need for water conservation.

Visitors to the dedicated website were invited to submit written pledges, or upload festive pictures or video messages in support of water causes or charitable acts. We committed to donate AED 100 for each activity on the site to local and international charities. The campaign reached thousands of people and was an overwhelming success as we donated AED 10 million to Bait al Khair, a charity formed to benefit a range of disadvantaged people in the UAE; and an international charity that works to provide safe drinking water to communities around the globe.

2007 Make-a-Wish

Our very first interactive Ramadan campaign invited people from around the world to visit the site and make a wish. For each wish we pledged to donate AED 10 to UAE charity the Bait Al Khair Society, which seeks to raise funds for disadvantaged UAE nationals.

The campaign drew thousands of visitors and solicited over 39,000 wishes from people on five different continents. At the end of the campaign we donated AED 6 million to the Bait Al Khair Society. To mark the occasion we hosted group of seventy children from the Bait Al Khair Society for a special boat trip around Palm Jumeirah.
